The Importance of Being Earnest
By Rupert Everett, Colin Firth
see related

Lightning flashed, thunder rumbled. Hail joined the rain in plummeting from the sky. As lightning struck nearby, car alarms begin to wail, and the stoplights blinked on and off. They'd keep doing that for the next several hours, but all I caught was one blink - because then everything happened all at once.

A green Chevy from the right and a black Accord from across the intersection crashed into each other. The truck spun, out of-control, and as I gaped at the totaled front of the smaller car, the Chevy ran over the median. Then the world slowed down. I had been yelling "back up, mom, back up!" ever since the truck 180'd, but she - quite understandably - was frozen. The Chevy hit us, but not horribly; the bigger problem was the giant stoplight that had just cracked and was now yawning for our car. Agonizing seconds passed where I wondered whether to brace myself or jump out of the car like Tom Cruise ^__^; then, with a "boomshakalaka" {okay, so there was no shakalakaling, but there should have been}, it hit. It pinned us partially under it, but thankfully didn't break through the window. The truck's tire and bumper board flew off and hit some car I didn't see, the other cars limped off, and I went, "Wow, we're stuck." {So intelligent, I know }.

I figured, since the power was out in the intersection, that the pole wouldn't electrocute me {a blond moment that could have been fatal, grrr} and so I jumped out of the car, moved scattered car parts to the median, and almost touched the streetlight before nearby people with brains told us to run like heck ;). Eventually some darling policemen came and rescued us from the hail, a fire truck cut the power cords and lifted the light from our scraped-but-whole van, and they found the other cars involved in the accident. Special thanks to the Chapmans for being familiar faces {I later wondered why I didn't see anyone from school pass by, but it turns out they LOCKED EVERYONE IN during the freak storm. Though I suppose their paranoia was justifiable}. I missed getting contacts because I had to spend the next hour rehashing the thing again and again for policemen, but at least I got a little adventure out of it...

So God saved my sister's, my mother's, and my life today. He is so loving. The police officers marveled to us later that, a) no one was hurt, b) the stoplight didn't crash through our window, c) the light's rained-on wires didn't electrocute the whole city block, and d) we actually got out of the car without being blown to smithereens. Utterly nothing I could have done on my own would have produced such a happy ending  - it was all the amazing Lord deigning to keep me alive another day. Just another thing to add to my list of blessings-I-owe-my-life-for.

Sorry, this was a serious and overly narrative post. Do forgive. I'll make it up next time.

[EDIT] fixedededed

[EDIT]I tried to change the "winaniw...fails at javascript renaming" and, because God has an entirely too healthy sense of irony, I think I messed up the script AGAIN. This is why I was afraid to change it for so long; it's rather bad, I'm so clueless I'm completely at Hawkins's mercy.
In other news, Mr. Man has left for college. I hope Biola likes pink shirts and tight jeans. We'll miss you desperately, Scott!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Wendi!

Directions: Type "(your name) is" with the quotes into a Google search, then pick out your favorite 10 or 12 responses. Post them on your xanga.

Ammeh made me laugh so hard with this that I decided to try it on myself. And so, in no particular order...
1. "Miss Eryn is so appealing! She has excellent type, a GREAT topknot, just an abundance of fleece with..."
2. "Eryn is the Only One in her school who has a tube coming from her tummy."
3. "*Marches around waving an 'Eryn is Lord' banner, singing the 'Praise to be Eryn' song* All Hail Eryn, the Baroness of Goth!"
4. "Eryn is Swanky."
5. "Eryn is 10 ½’ in diameter and made of Sitka spruce."
6. "Eryn is an elf who has a very strange taste in pants, and wears four ponytails."
7. 'Eryn is taken aback for a moment and then whispers back, "Did my father tell you about me?". "No, and Obi-Wan doesn't know either..."'
8. '"It was there that we discovered that Eryn is Geoff's idol."
9. "Eryn is the goddess of love."
10. "Eryn is a professional body piercer at Crazy Chameleon in Pittsfield, MA."
11. "Eryn is growing up so fast she is crawling and just started walking along the sofa mainly to get to the remote hehe and to bite my leg..."
12. "Eryn is onverwacht teruggekeerd naar ons stalletje."

Boo.

*Snoozing patrons of Eryn's xanga promptly die of shock*

Hehe.

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there lived a beautiful maiden named Eryn. Eryn was as sweet as she was lovely, and the birds came out to sing when she did; in fact, the whole of spring seemed to bloom whenever she walked throughout her meadows. She was also exceedingly intelligent, witty, and humble, which meant although some were jealous of her talents, the village as a whole adored her. The maiden's devoted friends consistently suggested that she start a xanga, seeing as it would give both the stalkers a way of being around her without actually being around her, and it would give the friends a delighted relief in the wit and charm that were sure to come from each xanga post. Eventually, a dapper young squire named Cody bullied Eryn into actually starting one, and to give her a bit of a hand {for the people of the village, of course, were always glad to do anything they could for the refulgent damsel}, the lord Hawkbat and lady Celebrian pitched in to turn her webpage into a dazzling soapbox. However, Eryn led a very filled life; between signing restriction orders on stalkers and paparazzi, feeding the woodland creatures, running through the cornfields with her amazing friends, singing at her balcony as suitors serenaded her from the garden, astounding her teachers and peers through brilliance in her classes, caring for sick widows, and slaying the county ogre, she had time for little else. So, the posting got postponed for a while... but always in the back of her mind {Eryn never forgot anything, and always kept her promises, for she was fair and good} the maiden remembered: come summer, she would take the time to delve into her xanga.

{Eryn action figures now selling for $999 on FarAwayLand.com; come complete with ogre-killing action, AND they say "I should post, but first I must give my last breadcrust to a starving urchin" when you press their hands.}

^__^ Yes, I plan to use this thing now. And I'll even try to update more than once a year. Muahaha.

This isn't going to be so much a diary as a personal soapbox. So, you'll see none of this:

OMFG, today I like went to the mall and there was this awesome AE sale and I got this cute shirt! You'd love it. Then I totally decided to have chicken for lunch and drank some orange-flavored water which was good. Ashley called me then and I talked to her for a bit, then I read a chapter in my Philosophy textbook. then I went to work where nothing happened, then ate some grapenuts.

And you will never see a post that'd make you think you're reading a lj instead of a xanga...

Today someone at the pool brought too many guests and refused to leave! Uggh!!! She was this crabby-faced woman, too! It so sucked-I mean what IS the point to a life where all you do is argue with old fat women!?!?! *Sob* I'm so depressed!

Rest easy.

What you will see are scribbles from something I'm writing, musings on life/love/the Lord, pictures, occasional announcements about big changes or how certain shindigs went, etc...yeah, whatever I freaking feel like. Most of the time, I'll be trying to either make you think or make you laugh - good reasons to read my xanga, hmm? ^__- Not that you need a reason besides that it's the fabulous E writing. Anyways. You might find anything, from the florid details of Heather's latest blond moment to a list of "Six Things Repairmen Should Not Do When Invading Eryn's Home, in this xanga. So check it every single day of your life, and leave gushing comments and many eprops, mmk? ^__^

To uh...force me to update again...I'm giving myself a little kick in the tush. Comment or Team Speak with any question, and I'll answer them in my next post. I promise to answer 100% truthfully, unless I don't want to, in which case you guys will meet up with my mad evasion skillz. =P Feel free to ask how to convince your sister she's not a toaster, what my favorite fruit is, how I would describe you, or what I've been learning from God lately...fire away.

[EDIT] Actually, I was thinking "what a nice way for my readers to get to know me", but upon reflection a) I don't really want to answer 100 questions and b) if you're reading this, in all likelihood you ALREADY know me... so ditch that idea. I will still answer any and all questions given, but next post will be about...something random...that I feel like.
It'll be shorter, too. ;)

Thank you for reading this far. Money goes in the hat. Agape!
